Project delivery models adopted from construction project management in the late 1960s emphasize Turnkey deliverables and Critical Path as key success drivers. While effective for construction, these models fall short when used in business, strategy, and IT projects. To bridge this gap, project managers need new mental models to add to traditional project methodologies. In this follow-up session to my previous talk on Outcomes Thinking, we will explore a mental model not well known in project circles – Path Dependency – and why it is critical to the delivery of outcomes.
